Description

Kalidasa

Kalidasa owes his fame to his Sanskrit play Abhjnana Shakuntala, the long epic poem Kumara Sambhava and lyric poem Mehaduta. Kalidas who lived sometime in the middle of the 4th and early 5th centries A.D., has left no account of life. According to popular legends, he owed his ingenuity as much to Goddess Kali’s blessings as to his own talents.
